Monthly Playlist // October 2016

This month is my birthday month, so do excuse my favourite birthday song, from Stevie Wonder himself! However, we are getting towards the touring months (touring usually occurs in two phases: October- early December and February-April) so we should expect some new material to be coming through.

I also have to confess that I have put a couple of songs in this month's playlist that I am actually unsure whether I like or not. Another thing: one of them comes from The Weeknd, False Alarm, which is such a disappointment. I absolutely adored Trilogy and last year's Beauty Behind The Madness, to the point of Trilogy being one of my favourite albums. Full stop. Not to go on about The Weeknd too much, as clearly his style changes between albums, and maybe it's a different poppier song as one of the two lead singles. For the record, I think Starboy is fab :)

We have some more offerings from rock/alt sources this month too, with You Me At Six, Kings of Leon and Lower Than Atlantis. I feel like the latter's new song is amazing, and seems a bit heavier than their other stuff.

Another Hamilton song, in the hype of ticket sales for the London West End shows next year, plus this song is beautiful and makes me want to cry. (I made a whole playlist ages ago of Songs to Cry To, so if you want to listen to that, click here)

Francis and the Lights have a weird sound, sometimes kind of rock, sometimes synth-electric, but here were two songs that I enjoyed. Some were quite hard to digest but I think that the two that I have chosen show facets to their style.

Busted have also released a new track, and this is the other one that I can't decide if I love or hate. Have a listen, it's markedly different to their other stuff, and let me know your thoughts!

  1. I will have to add some of those tunes to my playlist. I do like The Weeknd. I tend to like synth-electric so I will try some Francis and the Lights. Thanks for the ideas!
